The map Coached uses to read personality.

The Coached Model measures six traits and maps where your results land to one of twelve patterns. This page is the whole model: the six traits, the twelve patterns, and the four families they belong to.

Personality is continuous. The model is built around that.

Most personality tests sort people into a type and hand everyone in that type the same description. Personality science has moved past this: every trait runs on a spectrum, and nobody sits exactly on a type.

Types describe pattern regions, not boxes.

The Coached Model works in two layers. Six traits are measured in degrees — your exact position on each one. Twelve patterns name the regions those positions land in, grouped into four families. Your pattern is the region your results sit closest to, and your report is written from the exact positions. Two people can share a pattern and read two different reports.

Six traits, measured in degrees.

Every scale below is live. Drag a marker to where you'd guess you land, and the reading updates the way it would on a real report. The test's job is to tell you how right you were.

Four families — the wide view.

A family groups the three patterns that sit closest together in the model. Patterns in the same family share broad tendencies even where their details differ.

I

Our own model. The Coached Model is a proprietary six-trait model, developed and maintained at Coached, a behavioral science lab.

II

Continuous dimensions. Six traits, each measured in degrees rather than sorted into boxes.

III

Population-normalized scoring. Results are scored against population norms, the standard in modern psychometrics.

IV

Internal consistency. Responses are cross-checked against each other to confirm a reliable signal before results are computed.

V

Research-grounded. Informed by decades of peer-reviewed research in personality psychology and psychometrics.

VI

Individually written. Two people with the same pattern receive different reports: each one is generated from that person's own results.

Find where you land.

The test is free. You'll get your six trait positions, your pattern and family — and a report written from your exact results.
